Government Tax
Credits and Incentives
Propane appliance incentives and
rebates.
The American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009, commonly known as the
Stimulus Package, offers tax incentives for
energy-efficiency improvements in existing homes.
Federal tax credits are available in 2009 and 2010
at 30 percent of the installed cost—up to $1,500—of
high-efficiency appliances.
Incentives are also available for
qualifying home improvements with energy-efficient
upgrades. A 30 percent federal tax credit, state
energy-efficiency upgrade tax credits, and appliance
rebates through state propane associations can
really add up, making this a great time to improve
the energy-efficiency of your home with propane.
Alternative fuel infrastructure tax
credit.
The Stimulus Package also provides
funds and incentives for businesses and government
entities to develop alternative fuel infrastructure
and alternative fuel uses.
Fleet vehicle incentives.
-
Alternative Fuel Tax Credit:
The 50-cent-per-gallon
alternative fuel tax credit is available through
the end of 2009.
-
Refueling Infrastructure Tax Credit:
The percentage of the credit for
alternative fuel refueling property is increased
from 30 percent to 50 percent, and the cap
amount increases from $30,000.
